Evangelos Tsirkas   President

 

Evangelos Tsirkas who is the acting President of the Association of

Smyrneans has been born in Piraeus in 1938. His parents are originated

from Smyrna, Asia Minor.

He has been graduated from the Military Cadet Academy (School of

Evelpidon). He was promoted up to the rank of Lt General, getting the

posts of Deputy General of the Hellenic Army General Staff and finally

the post of the Commanding General of C` Army Corps.

Since his retirement in 1993 he turned his activities in various

Societies and Institutions as President or member of their Comities.

He has graduated from the Greek War College, National Defense College,

Law School of Aristotelean University of Thessaloniki, Industrial

University of Pireaus and Sorbonne University of Paris/ France, from

where he get his PhD in Political Science / Defense Policy.

He has published a number of papers and essays on history, social

problems and military subjects.

He has taken a number of medals and Awards such as that of Taxiarches of

Battalion of Feanix and the Taxiarches of Salvator of the Greek State as

well as the French medal of Le Commandeur dans les Ordre National du

Merit.

He is married with Foteini Tsirka Spanou, Dentist, originated also from

Asia Minor (Vourla) who is a member of the Association of Smyrneans.

They have two daughters both married and living in USA. Styliani-Anna is

a neurobiologist, Professor at the University of NY(SYNYSB) and Anna is

a pedocardiologist, Associate Professor at the University DAFT of

Massachusetts.
