BOOK PRESENTATION

In Athens, on the evening of the 26th of April 2007, at the Smyrnean Union's foundation author Eleni's Andreou new book "The passing through: three generations, one story" (Vasiliou Publications) was successfully presented.

The book is based on the author's Smyrnean aunt's diary and it covers a time range from 1922, a few months before the catastrophe of Smyrna, until the year 1964. Three generations and their personal stories that affect their characters and choices are presented. An odd man appears and with a unique way he decisively intervenes in their lives. The book was prolonged by the Smyrnean Union's secretary general Mr. Nikos Viketos and was presented by the honored with the national literature award Mr. Manos Kontoleon and by the national theatre actress Mrs. Peppy Metalidou. Mr. Antonis Markoulis, president of the cultural center of the municipality of Syros also spoke since part of the story takes place in the capital of the cyclades. The front page is a picture from back then, a young girl a few months before the catastrophe of Smyrna sitting on a chair in her house.
