EVENTS IN MEMORY OF the GREAT Defender OF HUMAN RIGHTS HENRY I MORGENTHAU     

U.S. Ambassador in Istanbul (1913-16) and president of the Committee on the Care for Refugees from Asia Minor (1923-29)

The events are taking place in Athens on 26 and 27 September 2008

Saving Refugees with Morgenthau contribution.

1. Mr. Anastasios Nerantzis, Vice President of the Greek Parliament.

2. Mrs Pamela Steiner, great grand daughter of Morgenthau.                

3. Projection of some parts from A. Torosian’s film, «The History of Morgenthau»

An honest voice in history: The Ambassador HENRY MORGENTHAU in Istanbul and Athens.

Saturday, September 27, 2008, (18.30-20.45) pm

Location: Cultural Center Konstantinoupoliton, Soutsou 46, Ampelokipoi (Metro, Ampelokipoi Station).

Program a:

1. The President of the New Cycle Konstantinoupoliton Mr. N. Ouzounoglou (3 minutes).

2.The President of the Enosis of Smyrneans Mr. E. Tsirkas (7 minutes).

3. Dr. Iakovos Aktsoglou, historian, D.University of Thrace,
Lecture: «The work of H. Morgenthau in Istanbul and Athens» (15 minutes).
 
4. Speech by Mrs. Pamela Steiner, great grand daughter of Morgenthau (15 minutes).
 
5. Speech  by Apo Torosian, Director of the film «The History of Morgkentaou» (15 minutes).

Break of 15 minutes.

Program b:

1. Projection of A. Torosian’s film, «The History of Morgenthau» (55 minutes).
 
2. Conclusions by the President of the National Committee of Armenians in Greece(10 minutes).
