Stelios Speranzas (1885 or 1888-1962)
Brief biography

Stelios Speranzas was born in Smyrna, Asia Minor. He graduated from the “Evangeliki” School and worked with the newspapers “New Smyrna” and “Harmony”.  He Graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Athens and in 1915 he got his PhD.  He served as a radiologist in the army until 1922.

In 1922 he was appointed as a director in  radiological laboratories in Piraeus and Athens  hospitals. In 1932 he received his second degree in Dentistry at the University of Athens and left for Paris, where he specialized in orthodontics.
From 1933 until 1952 he was professor at the Dentistry School of the University of Athens.

While dealing with Educational sciences, in 1908, he was in charge of the organization of the operation of Greek schools in the province of Rodopolis in Pontos.

In literature he has been shown since 1901 with his first poetic collection “Iades Avrai”. He had also awarded for his poem that was “The Hymn for Panionios” for which composer Demos Milanakis wrote the music.

His rich work includes poetry collections, literary and medical studies, plays and poems especially for children.
